Sonic the Hedgehog 25th Ceremony Art Book is a hardcover art book published by Melt & Becker. This book showcases the visual history of the Sonic the Hedgehog serial from 1991 to 2016, containing blueprint sketches, official illustrations, in-game sprites, promotional art, and box art. The volume too contains never-before-seen artwork,[ii] and features interviews with fundamental designers and artists who accept worked on the series, including Yuji Naka, Takashi Iizuka, Kazuyuki Hoshino and Yuji Uekawa.
The book was originally prepare to be released in April 2017, but was delayed to May 2017 as the book did not meet quality standards.[3] Information technology was farther delayed until June 2017 when the 2nd printing did not encounter the quality standards either, and the publisher had to switch to a new printer.[ane] Separate Standard Editions and special Collector's Editions were made available during the release.[4]
Due to supplies of the book starting to run out in early 2019, instead of simply reprinting the book, Cook & Becker decided to create an updated version with 30-two extra pages titled Sonic the Hedgehog Art & Design Volume.[5] It was made bachelor in belatedly 2019, and independent material from the three primary Sonic games released since the release of the original volume.

The contents of the Collector's Edition
The Collector'due south Edition comes with the hardcover book, and a separate grit-jacket for it. They come in an outer box, designed with a modern take on the Japanese Sonic 1 box art, and it has an inner sleeve that tin can fold into a display stand for the book. This edition as well contains an exclusive mitt-numbered 12 color screen impress by Yuji Uekawa.
Trivia
- The final slice of Sonic the Hedgehog media that Melt & Becker contributed to before this book was an official limited edition of the pixel art print drawn by artist Paul Veer.
